Since our dad passed in 2014, we have done our best to help mom as she learned to do all the things to maintain a home. We helped her arrange for services as needed and fixed or replaced things as time and use caused disrepair. Our parents enjoyed collecting and restoring antiques, but dad was mostly behind the acquisition of those things, so their collection has remained relatively unchanged since 2014.
When mom passed in early April, we have found ourselves at a loss as to what to do with her belongings. So many of those things hold memories of her and of our childhood and even of our time with our parents in adulthood. We wish we could stop time and just leave the house and shop as a memorial to their lives. To bring a few of the personal effects into our own daily existence. But there is simply too much, and we want items to go to people who knew them.
